EITC and OSTC Tax Credit Programs
Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program uses tax
credits aimed at businesses to help fund needy children through scholarships. The
business gives a donation from money they would normally pay in taxes to a
scholarship organization, which in turn work with schools to provide scholarships
for children to attend the school of their choice.
The Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) Program is similar. The program
enables eligible low-income students, residing within the boundaries of a low achieving
school, to apply for a scholarship to attend a participating school
BCS currently receives between $70,000 and $90,000 through this program from companies like J.P. Mascaro and Sons, Denney Electric, VIST Bank, K & W Transportation, Mast Roofing and Construction, Inc., Shaffer Tire Service, and others.
