The BCS School Board is in the process of renewing our Strategic Plan. This is an important process that ensures the future of BCS remains strong. A key element of strategic planning is compiling feedback from our most important stakeholders, you the parents!
A paper copy of our returning parent survey was in your back to school packet. For those of you that already returned it, thank you! If you have not yet returned it, we ask that you would either return the paper form by next Tuesday, or use this link to fill out our survey electronically.
Thank you for taking a few moments to contribute to the future planning of Berks Christian.

NEW LUNCH ORDERING POLICY
There are 2 ways to order lunch. Order online though Renweb or send in the exact amount $4.50 with your child and a note saying which lunch they will be ordering. Teachers will no longer be able to place lunch orders in the morning for the students, unless it's an emergency and their is no other lunch option available for that student.
Renweb desktop version lunch ordering:
1. Log into parents web.
2. Click Lunch
3. Click "create web order"
4. Select the lunch options for that student. You can order ahead as many days in advance as you would like.
5. Scroll to the bottom and click "order items" to proceed to the billing screen.
6. You will receive an email receipt.
Send in the exact amount:
1. Have you child bring in $4.50 to their homeroom/teacher.
2. Attach a note with the money saying which lunch to order.
CAR LINE procedures
In an effort to promote safety, accountability, and a streamlined process, we use the Family Vehicle Number policy. Your family has been assigned a number and has been provided with an orange card showing your number. Every time you pick up your child(ren), whether daily or only a few times during the year, you must show your orange number card through the car window. Having the card on your dashboard does not allow for our dismissal staff to be able to see it. If someone other than you is picking up your child(ren) they must have your family’s number card in order to claim your child(ren). If you would like more than one copy of your yellow number card, contact the school office to request one.
Cars are to line up behind the buses showing the orange number card through the window. Do not, under any circumstances, pull around the vehicle in front of you. Our school sits on a two-lane public road and though there isn't a yellow line running down the middle of the road, pulling around a vehicle parked in front of you constitutes driving in the opposing lane of traffic and is extremely dangerous.
Please, do not get out of your vehicle unless necessary. If you need to help your child, you certainly may but please do so quickly so that the line can keep moving.
Parents should not enter the building to pick up their child, but should get in the car line in their vehicle. If you have an extenuating circumstance that requires you to come into the building at dismissal time, notify the school office, as you would during school hours. Park in the back or along the side (between the two buildings) and walk to the front lobby doors. Do not use the parking lot across the street from the lobby as this causes dangerous foot traffic across Philadelphia Ave.
NEED UNIFORMS OR SPIRIT WEAR?
If you haven't ordered uniforms yet, you have until September 7th to get your orders in. Print the order form (available here) and send it in to the school office by September 7th.

ONE MORE HOST FAMILY NEEDED
At the time of this writing, we are in need of one host family for this school year for an incoming 8th grade boy from China. Since he will be arriving Friday August 24, time is of the essence! If you have interest in hosting but need a bit more time to prepare, arrangements can be made for a temporary home for him until you would be ready. Below are a few details about hosting. If you are interested, have questions, or would like more information, please contact Carrie Warner, firstname.lastname@example.org or 610-513-1258.
- Hosting is a wonderful opportunity to minister to students by allowing them to experience God's love in the setting of a Christian home
- Basic requirements for hosting include: a private room with bed/closet/dresser/desk, 3 meals daily (lunch can be packed or purchased at school), and transportation to/from school (many host families utilize busing) and as needed for other activities
- Host families are given a stipend of $700 per month to cover costs of food, transportation, etc.
Again, please contact Carrie Warner with any questions. Recommendations for host families would also be welcomed!
SUPPORT BCS WITH THE PURCHASES YOU ALREADY MAKE!
Box tops earn several hundred dollars per year!! Those little 10-cent squares really add up. Remember to clip your boxtops and send them in to school.

MOMS IN PRAYER KICK-OFF PRAYER WALK
On Saturday September 1, all moms of BCS students - as well as grandmothers, spiritual moms, and other women who love the Lord - are invited to come together to pray for our students, teachers, and school as we begin a new school year. The prayer walk will take place on the BCS campus from 9-11am and childcare will be provided. We will meet in front of the preschool, and spread out from there with the goal of covering the entire campus with prayer.
Recess Lunch Parents Needed
Our elementary lunch periods depend on parent volunteers. Teachers get a break over lunchtime, sometimes their only break of the day! To supervise lunch periods, we rely on parents who wipe down the tables before lunch begins, serve food, help students clean up, and then supervise the afternoon recess.
If you have free time in your week, will you consider being a Lunch/Recess Parent this year? Current clearances are required, and we are happy to help you acquire them. If you have a child younger than school age, you are welcome to bring him or her along. Commitment can be once a week, or more often! We need at least two parents per day, so pick a friend and sign up together! If you are interested, please email Rebekah Klase at email@example.com.
Save the date for this year's Homecoming!
It will be held here at BCS on Saturday, October 13th.
Please invite your family and friends for a fun-filled day!
Games and activities for kids will start at 10 am. The 5th annual quarter auction will follow at 11:30 am. The varsity and middle school girls volleyball teams will play following the auction. The day will be capped off with the alumni volleyball game. Be sure to buy your bidding paddle before October 5th to get the special (form attached to this email). You can also choose your bidding number if you buy before the 5th!
We are currently in the process of collecting donations for the auction from all different types of businesses. If you have a donation (gift cards, etc.) or know of a business that would like to donate, please contact Beth Bromwell at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Each class will be preparing a class basket for homecoming. There is a small white envelope in your packet you received at back to school night with your child's name on it. Please send in $10 cash in the envelope (to the school office) for each of your children. This money will go towards purchasing items for your child's class basket. If you are interested in helping your child's teacher with the baskets, please contact them directly.
