TUESDAY, OCTOBER 1

PreK-12th grade students will have their pictures taken on Tuesday, October 1.

Students should make a special effort to be at school this day since there is no picture make-up day for absent students. Students are expected to dress up for Picture Day.

Your student brought home an order form for Picture Day. Make sure you complete this and send it with your child ON PICTURE DAY. We do not collect these ahead of time. The photographer will take it from your student on Picture Day.

For Girls:
A blouse and skirt or a dress is preferred for the ladies (dresses and skirts must reach the knee and dresses must have sleeves). Leggings are not pants and may not be worn unless under a dress or skirt that reaches the knee.

For Boys:
Gentlemen should wear dress pants with a polo, dress shirt and tie, or sweater. No jeans, sweatpants, shorts, or sweatshirts will be permitted.

For All:
The modesty guidelines in the student handbook should also be followed and students who disregard the guidelines may be asked to change for the duration of the day. If you have questions about the dress code for Picture Day, please contact the office.

PRAYER MATTERS BLOG

FOCUS

I find it intriguing to consider the power of focus. In any given situation, I can choose what I will focus on. The same situation can look and feel totally different depending on how I see it.

This thought came about as I was sitting on my porch after dark one evening, listening to the night sounds. It just kind of hit me that I can always choose where my focus is going to be. Am I going to focus on how things are going (or not going) the way I was hoping they would? Or am I going to focus on what I can be thankful for, on how I can look for God’s handiwork even when things seem to be going wrong? Can I learn to let go of my self-centered desires that everything would go my way and trust in God and His ways? Even though it can feel insanely difficult to focus on trusting in God and His plans that are bigger than mine, that is clearly the better way.

Thinking about this need for a God-centered focus reminds me of the words of the Apostle Paul in the beginning of Romans 12 - “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” And I have always thought the next words are incredibly powerful - “Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is - His good, pleasing and perfect will.” For someone like me who tends to worry a lot about making the right choice, it is rather freeing to consider that perhaps rather than spending my energy trying to figure out God’s perfect will, I can simply ask Him to renew my mind. Maybe sometimes changing my focus is all I need to be transformed.

Pray with me…
…. for a God-centered focus to drive every part of BCS
Let the peace of Christ keep you in tune with each other, in step with each other. None of this going off and doing your own thing. Colossians 3:15 MSG

… for God to reveal His vision for the school to the leadership
If people can’t see what God is doing, they stumble all over themselves; But when they attend to what He reveals, they are most blessed. Proverbs 29:18 MSG

… for every individual in the BCS community to be transformed by the renewing of our minds
Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him… fix your attention on God. Romans 12:2 MSG

Soli Deo Gloria
To God alone be the glory

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: UPDATE: No takers yet since last week, are you able to serve?

We are still in great need for Recess Parents: still need 1 Tuesday, 1 Wednesday, 1 Friday. Being a recess parent is a great way to connect with our students and build relationships with our school community. These volunteers are critical to keeping our students safe and cared for during lunch and recess. Thank you to our 7 parents who have already stepped up, 3 more to go! (We’ll take grandparent recess parents too!)

Thank you to our volunteers!
