School Picture Day

Picture Day is next week! Preschool - 12th grade students will have their pictures taken on Tuesday, October 3. MWF Preschoolers will be photographed on Monday, October 2.

This week your student brought home an order form for Picture Day. Make sure you complete this and send it with your child ON PICTURE DAY. We do not collect these ahead of time. The photographer will take it from your student on Picture Day.

Students should make a special effort to be at school this day since there is no picture make-up day for absent students. Students are expected to dress up for Picture Day.

For Girls:
A blouse and skirt or a dress is preferred for the ladies (dresses and skirts must reach the knee and dresses must have sleeves). Leggings are not pants and may not be worn unless under a dress or skirt that reaches the knee.

For Boys:
Gentlemen should wear dress pants with a polo, dress shirt and tie, or sweater. No jeans, sweatpants, shorts, or sweatshirts will be permitted.

For All:
The modesty guidelines in the student handbook should also be followed and students who disregard the guidelines may be asked to change for the duration of the day. If you have questions about the dress code for Picture Day, please contact the office.

Homecoming Pep Rally

Thursday, October 5 will be a maroon and gold dress down day. Please adhere to modesty guidelines while dressing in your best maroon and gold to show school spirit as we prepare for Homecoming. Prizes will be awarded! Please bring at least $2.00.

Coming in November: High School Leadership Conference

Eight students will have the opportunity to join the RE:Connect High School Leadership Conference in Washington DC this fall. Applications will be distributed to high school students today at the High School Retreat and students will have one week to apply. Applications are due back by October 6th and the earlier the application is received, the better the likelihood of being accepted.

The Redemption Everyday Conference is a premiere high school student leadership event with a balance of inspiring worship, deep content rooted in a biblical worldview, and summer-camp fun which stimulates growth and overall culture change throughout the school year. Session topics will include biblical foundation, ethnic unity, technology, and sexuality. BCS students who have gone on this trip in past years have found it pivotal to their experience as high school leaders.

Each family will be assigned scheduled times for parent / teacher conferences on November 6th and 7th. You will receive your assigned times next week. Ability to switch your slot is limited, so please mark your calendar with your assigned time slot right away and reserve time in your schedule.

Grandparents Day

We are excited for our annual Grandparents Day coming up in November. We'll be sending invitations out soon, so please make sure we have the updated contact information on your child's grandparents. This is especially important if you're a new family, or if grandparents have recently moved.

Temporary Position Available

As Mr Warner fills in as our temporary English teacher, administration is looking to hire a part-time, temporary Administrative Assistant to help keep up with office tasks. Workload will require competent computer skills and general office work, as well as covering some student study hall classes. Assistant will be paid hourly, around 20-30 hours a week, until an English teacher is found and Mr Warner can hand off the teaching baton. Summer Readers Celebrate

summer readers.JPG

Each summer, we challenge our elementary students to read toward a goal - either a total number of books or pages - appropriate to their grade level. Many students take up this challenge heartily and we are always delighted to honor those who reached their goal. The prize for those who reached their grade-level goal is a picnic lunch at a local park, and playtime on the playground. Congratulations, elementary summer readers!

Did we see you at the pole?

Student council gets things started early as buses start to arrive.

What a beautiful morning we had for this annual time of prayer. Around flagpoles across the country, students and school faculty gathered to pray for schools, for our nation, and for those recently affected by national weather tragedies. Thank you for joining us in this nation-wide initiative to show our commitment to prayer.
