TONIGHT: Summer Connect Night
Tight-knit, family-like community is a hallmark of Berks Christian School. We are thrilled to announce our first Summer Connect Night, happening this evening. We'll provide the hot dogs. You provide sides and snacks to add to your family's meal. Feel free to bring friends or neighbors too! We do need a count, though, so email email@example.com to let her know how many people you'll be bringing. Summer Connect Night will run from 6:00 until 7:30 on August 17th. We'll see you there!
CIPPE Forms Due
The athletic department must have a 2017-2018 CIPPE Athletic Form on file before you student can participate in athletics. If a student does not have a current CIPPE on file, they may not participate in athletics. Sections 1-6 must be completed; while sections 1-5 may be done by a parent, section 6 must be completed by a doctor. If your CIPPE is incomplete, please schedule an appointment with your doctor right away. All CIPPES are overdue at this point, if not yet submitted.
Athletic Practice and Game Schedule
All game and practice schedules are available on the CCAC website.
Volunteer Needed for Concessions Manager
We are looking for a parent who is willing to make sure the concessions stand for during our athletic contests is always stocked and ready to go! If you are willing to volunteer for just during volleyball season (September-October) or the entire school year please let Miss Klase know by emailing for firstname.lastname@example.org. You would work with Mr. Godsey and Miss Klase to help raise funds for BCS Athletics through your service as the BCS Concessions Manager.
News and Updates
Coming this fall... #BCSSERVE
As promised in Mr Warner's State of the School address last spring, we are launching BCS SERVE this year which will be our year-long, all ages missions team. The aim of BCS SERVE will be to provide ongoing and consistent opportunities for our families to serve in the community. BCS SERVE will organize service projects locally and through travel, with opportunities appropriate for many different age groups. Our capstone service project will be our annual Serve-a-Thon in the spring. We are excited to see the extended impact we can make when we work together.
As we kick off the first year of this new initiative, we are planning to buy our yearly serving t-shirts in the fall, rather than waiting until the spring Serve-a-Thon. As we did for last year's Serve-a-Thon t-shirt, we will be hosting a contest to choose the t-shirt color: green, yellow, or black. Voting will start tonight at our Summer Connect Night!
Additionally, we need t-shirt sizes for your child. If your child's shirt size has changed since last year's spring Serve-a-Thon, or if you are a new family, please email Beth Bromwell (email@example.com) with the sizes of t-shirts for your children. If we hear nothing from you, we will reorder the size your child wore in the spring. Orders will be placed September 1st, so submit your size changes by August 30th.
Spirit Wear and School Uniforms
We are accepting another order for spirit wear and school uniforms, due on September 1st. A copy of the order form was attached to your Beat email or you can request one from Miss Klase (firstname.lastname@example.org). If you ordered in the first round, you will be directly contacted when your order arrives.
New Chromebook Policy and Procedure
All of our 9th-12th grade students will be provided with a Chromebook from BCS for the entirety of the school year. Each student will have their device with them throughout the school day, and will be able to take their Chromebook home each night as well.
A number of Chromebooks will still be available for middle school and elementary students to check out during specific classes or study halls, just like last year.
More information (and paperwork!) coming at Back to School Night on 8/31.
Consider attending this great free event
The Compassion Experience features an interactive journey through the true stories of children living in developing countries like the Philippines, Kenya, Uganda and the Dominican Republic.
In over 2,000 square feet of interactive exhibit space, visitors will step inside homes, markets and schools — without getting on a plane. Each child's story starts in poverty but ends in hope. Visit the experience at Lancaster Bible College, August 25-28. More details here.

Help our teachers prepare for the year
If you'd like to help our elementary teachers prepare their curriculum for the start of the school year, join a team of teachers and parent volunteers who will help with "Collate Day" on August 22nd. Come at 9:00 am to help out! Please let Mrs Halter know if you're attending (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Parent Volunteers Needed for Lunch and Recess
Our elementary lunch periods depend on parent volunteers. Teachers get a break over lunchtime, sometimes their only break of the day! To supervise lunch periods, we rely on parents who wipe down the tables before lunch begins, serve food, help students clean up, and then supervise the afternoon recess.
If you have free time in your week, will you consider being a Lunch/Recess Parent this year? Timing is approximately 11:00 until 12:30. Current clearances are required, and we are happy to help you acquire them. If you have a child younger than school age, you are welcome to bring him or her along. Commitment can be once a week, or more often! We need two parents per day, so pick a friend and sign up together!
Substitute Teachers Needed
We are looking to add some substitute teachers to our list for the 2017-2018 school year. We are looking for people with the following requirements:
1. Flexible schedule
2. Bachelors degree (it does not have to be in education)
3. PA Criminal Background Clearance
4. PA Child Abuse Clearance
5. FBI Fingerprinting
If you are or anyone you know are interested in being added to our sub list, please send your resume and written Christian testimony to Miss Klase at email@example.com.
