Need Service Hours?
Summer work is in full swing at BCS and we can use extra hands. If you still need to make up missed service hours from last year or if you want to get a head start on your hours for this year, an opportunity is coming up on August 2nd. Projects will include organizing, painting, and rearranging. Come ready to work hard! Please let Miss Klase know if you plan to attend. Email email@example.com.
Summer Connect Night
Tight-knit, family-like community is a hallmark of Berks Christian School. We are thrilled to announce our first Summer Connect Night, coming up in mid-August, just twelve days before school begins. We'll provide the hot dogs. You provide sides and snacks to add to your family's meal. Feel free to bring friends or neighbors too! We do need a count, though, so email firstname.lastname@example.org to let her know how many people you'll be bringing. Summer Connect Night will run from 6:00 until 7:30 on August 17th. We'll see you there!
Fall Athletics Meeting
All parents and athletes involved in fall sports are required to attend the Fall Athletic Meeting on August 10th at 7:00 pm. If you are the parent of a fall athlete and you cannot attend for extenuating circumstances, you must notify the Kody Godsey, Athletic Director, at email@example.com.
CIPPE Forms Due
The athletic department must have a 2017-2018 CIPPE Athletic Form on file before you student can participate in athletics. If a student does not have a current CIPPE on file, they may not participate in athletics. Sections 1-6 must be completed; while sections 1-5 may be done by a parent, section 6 must be completed by a doctor. If your CIPPE is incomplete, please schedule an appointment with your doctor right away. All CIPPES are due by August 10th.
A preseason schedule will be sent to athletes via email in the coming weeks. All game schedules are available on the CCAC website.
News and Updates
Coming this fall... #BCSSERVE
As promised in Mr Warner's State of the School address last spring, we are launching BCS SERVE this year which will be our year-long, all ages missions team. The aim of BCS SERVE will be to provide ongoing and consistent opportunities for our families to serve in the community. BCS SERVE will organize service projects locally and through travel, with opportunities appropriate for many different age groups. Our capstone service project will be our annual Serve-a-Thon in the spring. We are excited to see the extended impact we can make when we work together.
As we kick off the first year of this new initiative, we are planning to buy our yearly serving t-shirts in the fall, rather than waiting until the spring Serve-a-Thon. As we did for last year's Serve-a-Thon t-shirt, we will be hosting a contest to choose the t-shirt color. Watch for the color choices in the next Beat! Voting will start on August 17th at our Summer Connect Night.
Hallways of Hope Scholarship
It's our third year offering the unique Hallways of Hope Scholarship Program and we're excited about making it possible for some new families to join our BCS community who would be otherwise unable to do so. The scholarship is for newly enrolling families with significant financial need who are suggested by a current member of the BCS community. You'll receive a flyer about this special program today or tomorrow, via your student.
Refer a Friend
Don't forget about our referral discounts! Do you have a friend who's still on the fence about their family's schooling decision for next year? Please invite him or her to contact the school office for an educational consultation. If you refer a friend, neighbor, coworker, or anyone else you know, and they enroll, you will get a discount on your tuition, and so will the new family. Refer-a-Friend post cards will be sent home this week. Give one to someone you know!
Spirit Wear and School Uniforms
Don't forget that spirit wear and school uniform orders are due on August 8th. A copy of the order form was attached to your Beat email or you can request one from Miss Klase (firstname.lastname@example.org).

Parents Volunteers Needed for Lunch and Recess
Our elementary lunch periods depend on parent volunteers. Teachers get a break over lunchtime, sometimes their only break of the day! To supervise lunch periods, we rely on parents who wipe down the tables before lunch begins, serve food, help students clean up, and then supervise the afternoon recess.
If you have free time in your week, will you consider being a Lunch/Recess Parent this year? Timing is approximately 11:00 until 12:30. Current clearances are required, and we are happy to help you acquire them. If you have a child younger than school age, you are welcome to bring him or her along. Commitment can be once a week, or more often! We need two parents per day, so pick a friend and sign up together!
Substitute Teachers Needed
We are looking to add some substitute teachers to our list for the 2017-2018 school year. We are looking for people with the following requirements:
1. Flexible schedule
2. Bachelors degree (it does not have to be in education)
3. PA Criminal Background Clearance
4. PA Child Abuse Clearance
5. FBI Fingerprinting
If you are or anyone you know are interested in being added to our sub list, please send your resume and written Christian testimony to Miss Klase at email@example.com.
