Can you open your home?
From January 6th through March 15th, five students from Asia will be attending Berks Christian School for a short-term cross-cultural experience. Five host families are needed for this program. Hosting a teenager from across the globe is an excellent experience for your family and also provides you the opportunity to share the gospel of Christ with a student who may not know anything about Jesus. It's a short-term commitment, and a perfect way to try out the hosting experience, if you've considered hosting a student for a whole year but aren't sure what to expect. Our school also reaps big benefits from having these students in our community for a few months. If you can open your home to a student this winter, please contact Rebekah Klase by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.

Congratulations, Middle School Girls
Our middle school girls volleyball team took home a victory this past Tuesday at Conestoga Christian School. Under coach Corrie Mast, a BCS alumna who played volleyball herself, the girls played an excellent game and we're proud of this kickoff to the volleyball season.

Jump In & Join Us
Still Needed: Lunch/Recess Parent Volunteers!
If your schedule is flexible, make time for us! Volunteer to help out with lunch and recess supervision for our elementary students this year. We are still in need of four or five parents to join this important team. You'll get the chance to meet and hang out with other BCS parents (or consider signing up with a friend!) and to interact with our delightful elementary students. You will need to submit current background clearances. Please contact Rebekah Klase by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org for more info or to volunteer.
Homecoming is in one month and we are excited about the second year of our new class baskets. Each class prepares a themed basket for the Quarter Auction. Baskets are put up for a live bidding, starting at an opening bid based on their value. Classes will receive points for completing the basket, as well as if it gets sold for more than its value. Also, the students can get additional points by selling paddles ahead of time by telling their friends and family to purchase them. Each class will be meeting with their homeroom teacher to discuss ideas for their school basket. If you'd like to help out with organizing or purchasing items for the basket of your child's class, please contact Beth Bromwell by emailing email@example.com.
Coming Soon... Kids' Kreations!
A brand-new fundraiser coming in just a few weeks will give you the chance to order products with your students' hand-designed art. Tote bags, phone covers, mousepads, blankets, aprons, jewelry, and much more will be available, all featuring a unique piece of artwork that your student will complete here at school. Prices are reasonable and a portion of each purchase comes directly to BCS as a donation. Stock up for Christmas and birthday gifts! Look for more info coming soon.
Featured Library Book
Just added to our library over the summer is the Tillerman Cycle, a series by Cynthia Voigt. This set of young adult novels tell the story of the Tillerman family, a four-some of abandoned children who must fend for themselves in the American 1980's. The cycle is not written in chronological order, but why not start with the first book. Homecoming is available in the BCS library now. Check it out!
Summer Readers are Honored
Congratulations to the elementary students who made time in their sunny summer for a good book... or twenty! These students completed the summer reading goal for their grade level and are to be commended for their outstanding work. Great job, readers!
ROARS Groups off to a roaring start
Our middle school and high school students spend time each week in their ROARS groups, mentor groups led by a faculty member. Typically, these groups meet after chapel and have a chance to open up with one another, discuss questions regarding the topic presented in chapel, or just enjoy an activity together. This week, some ROARS groups did a Yarn Web activity in which each person shared something about him or herself, then tossed the ball of yarn to another group member. The web grew and grew as students shared about their lives and got to know each other better.
