And sell a paddle to a friend or neighbor who will be joining you!

High School Leadership Conference

Calling all HS students to join thousands of other students from Christian Schools November 20-22 in Washington D.C.!

Applications were given to all HS students last week; space is limited to 8 students so apply early! Applications are due Wednesday October 5th. Cost for trip is $250 which includes conference fees, hotel room, meals, and travel.

The Redemption Everyday Conference is an annual leadership event for Christian high school students about God's story of creation, our fall into sin, and God's redemption and restoration for all of life. During the re:Purpose conference, keynote speakers will explore typical responses toward the quickly changing culture, and present a biblical alternative. We will dive deeper into the purpose of justice, family, work, beauty, wisdom, and church to see how our salvation is intended for the life of the world in each of these spheres. Students walk away from the conference energized and united, poised to make a difference in their world, community, church, school, and home. Learn more about the conference here.

Join us for a Milestone Event This Fall

Mark your calendars for Saturday, November 12. As a centerpiece of our efforts to partner and equip parents, we are hosting AXIS for a full day-family event entitled Come Together. This is an opportunity middle school and high school parents will not want to miss.

Space is limited and we will be opening this event to the community, but prioritizing BCS families first.

  • Registration opens this Monday, cost is $40/family.
  • Register online or through a paper registration.
  • Boxed lunches from Chick-Fil-A will be available.

Want to learn more?

Come Together is comprised of six thirty-five minute sessions, and a lunch session, all designed to resource families and encourage them to tackle cultural issues through a biblical worldview. Axis presents content in a way that is relevant and thought-provoking by traveling in teams of four and using an array of media to show the timeless truths of Christianity in an ever changing world. By navigating where our habits come from, how we derive ideas, and the effects of our community, families are encouraged to look at what is driving their life and how they can leave a legacy of hope to the next generation.

Picture Day: Next Tuesday, October 4

Picture Day is next week! Preschool - 12th grade students will have their pictures taken on Tuesday, October 4. MWF Preschoolers will be photographed on Monday, October 3.

This week your student brought home an order form for Picture Day. Make sure you complete this and send it with your child ON PICTURE DAY. We do not collect these ahead of time. The photographer will take it from your student on Picture Day.

Students should make a special effort to be at school this day since there is no picture make-up day for absent students. Students are expected to dress up for Picture Day. A blouse and skirt or a dress is preferred for the ladies (dresses and skirts must reach the knee and must have sleeves). Gentlemen should wear dress pants with a polo, dress shirt and tie, or sweater. No jeans, sweatpants, shorts, or sweatshirts will be permitted. The modesty guidelines in the student handbook should also be followed and students who disregard the guidelines may be asked to change for the duration of the day. If you have questions about the dress code for Picture Day, please contact the office.

Featured Library Book: The Princess and the Goblin

C.S. Lewis once wrote this of George MacDonald. "I have never concealed the fact that I regarded him as my master; indeed I fancy I have never written a book in which I did not quote from him." Cozy up to the space heater this autumn with a warm blanket and a chubby mug of joy as you read MacDonald's The Princess and the Goblin - a fine English fairy tale of good triumphing over evil and the daring heroism involved in that noblest of undertakings. It's suitable for readers of any age, from upper elementary through grownups who love a good fairy tale. It's available in the BCS Library now. Check it out!

Nutrition Information Session

Through our accreditation process last year we realized we wanted to focus more on nutrition at BCS. We put changes in place that included providing the hot lunch program through Exeter School District and making healthier choices available in our vending machines. Recently a nurse who is working on getting an advanced nursing degree got in touch with me. She needed to partner with a local school for a project. As we met together she decided to put together resources for you as parents that will help in guiding your student to make nutritious choices. We know that in today's world it is a struggle to make the healthy choices when they are so many unhealthy choices.

We would ask that you take this short survey by Tuesday, October 4th. We will be hosting an information session on Thursday, October 13th at 7pm for the nurse to share the results of the survey and to give resources to you as parents on nutrition.

As a thank you for taking the survey, we will be giving out some BCS Spirit Wear to a few lucky winners!
