Grandparents Day

Our Grandparents Day event next week culminates at 10:30 with a chapel service which will include class presentations. We invite parents to join us for this special event. If you choose to come, please be sure to sign in at the office when you arrive.

Snow Dismissal / Delay Procedure

We know, we know. Snow procedures already? With a chance of snowfall this coming Monday, we thought it was a good time to review our typical snow procedures. Please read these very carefully, but also remember that every snow event is different.

Early Dismissals
Berks Christian School will never independently call an Early Dismissal. If, during the school day, weather concerns cause our transporting districts to pick up their students early:
1. BCS typically continues its normal school day to its completion since there will usually be at least one district that does not close early.
2. You as a parent, regardless of your local district, may pick up your child early to avoid oncoming messy weather. Just report to the office and have your child sign out. Also call your district to let them know, especially if there are not many on that bus on a normal run.
3. The school office will often dismiss student drivers before roads get bad, even before their assigned transporting districts show up to BCS. These drivers may also take approved riders with them, if prior parental permission has been given from both sets of parents involved.
4. All that leave early are responsible for any work they miss.

Delays
When BCS calls a two hour delay, we will send a parent alert, just as we would if school were cancelled for the day. When your district calls two hour delay but BCS is starting on time, you follow your district's schedule. If your student rides the bus it will come two hours after the normal time (but your child's attendance record will not be affected by this). If you'd like to bring your student to school at the normal BCS start time, that is an option too, but not required. You can find out if your district has a delay by checking here. (Consider adding this link as a bookmark so you can find it again!) Also remember that if there is a delay, there will be no hot lunch orders taken.

News and Updates

Poinsettia Sale

Last chance to order poinsettias to support the Senior Class! Orders are due on Tuesday. Plants will be delivered on December 6th.

Spirit Wear and Uniform Order

Our winter spirit wear and uniform order will be placed November 29th. Order forms were attached to the Beat email this week, and are also available on Renweb or from the school office. Make sure you take advantage of this chance to order sweatshirts, spirit tees, and uniforms (long-sleeved polos are available this time, in addition to regular polo shirts) since we will not be offering another chance to order until the spring.

Yearbook Orders Due

If you want to purchase a Yearbook at the rate of $40, the deadline is next Wednesday, 11/23. If you need a new order form, please contact Miss Klase in the office.

Reminder about School Pictures

School pictures were sent home last week. We hope you loved what you received! If so, you can place additional orders by sending in the order form to the BCS office. If you were not satisfied, or if you have questions about your pictures or your order, please contact Dave Zerbe Studio directly by calling 610-376-0379.

Immediate Need: Host Families

We still have an urgent need for host families to welcome international students from January 6th through March 15th. This gift of hospitality will enrich the students' experiences and will be an adventure your family will never forget. Five host families are needed for this program and host families will earn a stipend of $1,000. If you can open your home to a student this winter, please contact Rebekah Klase by emailing rklase@berkschristian.org.

All Families: Three-Question Survey about Church Attendance

We try to maintain active relationships within our community, specifically with the churches that our students attend. Since we know that families sometimes relocate or start attending a new church, we take time to update this info every few years. Please take a minute or two to complete this short survey (just three questions!) about your church attendance. Thanks in advance!
