The curriculum at Berks Christian School is continually undergoing evaluation and upgrading. The entire school is based upon a traditional approach to education with self-contained classrooms in K-5th grade and subject-area classrooms in 6th-12th grade.
Realizing that the primary grades constitute the basic foundation of learning for every child, Berks Christian School offers a cohesive and systematic curriculum which challenges and encourages the student to establish correct study habits, learning skills, and positive attitude toward education. There is an emphasis on character training according to the principles of Christ in all the disciplines. The areas of reading, writing, and mathematics are given the major emphasis in the primary grades.
Middle School students are required to take the following courses: Bible, History, Science, Mathematics, English, Physical Education, Chorus, Art, Spanish, Computer, and Music Appreciation.
Students in grades 9 to 12 must earn a minimum of 22 units of credit to graduate. This must include the following: 4 units each of Bible and English; 3 units each of History, Science, and Mathematics; 2 units of Physical Education (.5 units each year at BCS) and .5 units of Health.
Each year a student must carry 5.5 credits. A student is classified by the number of credits earned by the beginning of the school year as follows: Sophomores (10th) 5.5; Junior (11th) 11.00; Senior (12th) 16.5. All requirements for graduation must be completed prior to the graduation ceremony in order to participate in commencement.
