About Berks Christian School:

Berks Christian School, a ministry of Exeter Bible Church, is an educational institution whose purpose is the directing of the process of human development toward God's objectives for man: Godliness of character and action. The students are taught to know God and to imitate Him in His character and in His work. A central goal of all that is done is to help each student to become "strong in spirit" so that he/she can become effective in the area in which God has called him/her to serve.

The Bible is the center of the curriculum (II Timothy 3:16, 17) and the students and teachers are asked to evaluate all they see in the world through the eyes of God.  The Bible is not only the most important subject matter, but also the source of the principles determining the other subject matter in the way in which the are taught.

Berks Christian School is a not a substitute for the home or the church. In scripture, God has commanded two institutions to educate: the home and the Church (Deuteronomy 6:7; Proverbs 22:6).  It makes parents responsible for their children and charges them with an educational task.  The work of Berks Christian School is an extension of the Christian educational ministries of the Christian home and church.  The child who benefits most from attending Berks Christian School is one who has parents who consistently teach and practice the way of the Lord at home and who see to it that their family is actively involved in a Bible-teaching church.

School Verse: "One generation shall praise Your works to another and shall declare Your mighty acts." Psalm 145:4

School Colors: Maroon and Gold.  Maroon represents the shed blood of Christ, which covers our sins, and gold is our symbol of eternity, our true final home.

School Mascot: Lion, which symbolizes of the kingship of Jesus Christ.  We worship Him as our Lord and Savior and desire Him to be the King in the life of each student.

Brief History of Berks Christian School:

The Exeter Bible Church had been considering the possibility of starting a Christian school since 1972 when the Board of Elders established the Berks Christian School committee, but it was not until September of 1975 that the vision began to be a reality.  At that time the Board of Elders proposed that Exeter Bible Church begin a school operated and managed by the church, but open to any willing child whose parents include at least one born again Christian.  A congregational vote taken in March 1976 was overwhelmingly favorable and an initial offering taken on Easter Sunday formed the seedbed for the school.

The first students were enrolled on May 15, 1976 and the doors of BCS opened on September 8, 1976 with an enrollment of 96.  The first graduating class consisted of two students.  The Lord has blessed in a mighty way since then with growth in facilities and enrollment.
